I just picked up a Tornado without a case. Does anyone know what generic case would fit the guitar? Of course if someone has a reasonably priced Ovation case for it I would prefer it. Thanks.

I think my first post here was looking for a Tornado case.

An "old timer" posted an eBay link and when I questioned getting a generic case, I was told to "just buy the one in the link!"

I did, and it didn't fit the tornado worth crap.

I've tried a number of different cases since that time but none of them have been right; usually the neck support is too high. And though I've asked the question since, I'd still like to know if anyone has first hand knowledge of a specific case that will work correctly for a tornado other than the original.

Could you tell me which cases you have tried? Thanks.

Jack,

There is a hard case made for an Ibanez that fits the Tornado perfectly. Let me look when I get home tonight and see if there is a model number on it.

Sorry, had to run out to a job site.

I've tried one from MusicWarehouseUSA, a gator GC-335, and the original suggested one off eBay that doesn't have a name but is simply marked 335.

I checked earlier postings and this question has come up twice in the past 6 months - but neither time did anyone post that they had found a perfect case.

This thread seems to be moving towards a better conclusion so PLEASE, you who have found well fitting cases, post a manufacturer and model number.

Well, I'm striking out here too. The case I have has no brand name but I swear I remember the music store saying it was for an Ibanez. The Tornado and Hurricane fit PERFECT inside. The case is black with black fur lining. Inside measurements are 43" long, 12" upper bout, 10 3/4" waist, 16" lower bout and 3" deep. Flat top, heavy hardboard materials with heavy white case stitching, 2 fancy hinges that have molded in feet, 5 claps with one key lock. There is one 1"x1"x1/4" square foam block mounted on each side of the upper bout and a 2"Lx2"Wx1"H square foam block right under the heel of the neck/body joint. Accessory compartment with hinged top. I seem to recall is was about $115.

I'll keep digging in the old receipt bin for the sales slip, maybe it will be listed there.

Sorry Jack - there are no labels or anything on either of my cases.

Wouldn't a standard Gibson case be a good fit for it?

JB said a 335 case should fit. When the Tornado arrives next week I'll take it to a store and see if they have anything that fits. I didn't want to pay a premium for a case just because it has the Gibson logo on it.

That would be the best Plan...
Cuz I have bought cases online that Claimed to fit a 335 (Or a Delta King) and would not.
And by the time you pay shipping on evilBay, any savings just went down the drain.

Exactly what OMA said.

I originally fell into that trap when told by another member to just get a 335 case; 3 cases later, I still am searching.

I live in a rural area and I haven't had the option to go to a store and try cases, so please keep me in mind if you turn up one that fits; I would really like to get one!

The neck is too short to fit in a Gibby case.

I bought the Ibanez case for mine. It's the one they use for the deeper hollowbody Artcore guitars.

Fits like a glove

I found a case for my Tornado. On the receipt it's listed as "Epiphone 940E519 Sheraton Dot Casino Hardshell Case". There is about 4" from the top of the headstock to the top of the case, but otherwise it's a perfect fit. It was $120 at the store, but when I showed them a case with the same description online, I got it for $89. However, the measurements are not the same as the case online. The SKU # is 8838026000. Hope this helps.
