Joined: January 2006 Posts: 1486 Location: Michigan | i went to the local guitar store ( huber breeze )today to have the once a year 1598merb strings changed.i supplied the strings and the charge to me was $15.00.it took the tech about 20 minutes and it was the best $15.00 i have spent in a while. the store only has 3 ovation guitars in their display area and they are selling all ovations at 50% off. i asked the owner about it and again he said he is trying to get rid of them.i asked if he could get adamas guitars and he said you want an adamas :confused: .he said yes and that he was just at the mothership 2 weeks ago watching them make ( i think he said ) guild guitars. i guess ovation and adamas are still considered one of the most disrespected guitars of the guitar world.GWB | ||

They charge me $5.00. $15.00 is ridiculous! Yes, I could do it myself, but because I'm blind when it comes to close up work, it's just easier to have it done for me. :( Willa | ||

Joined: January 2006 Posts: 1486 Location: Michigan | im like willa , i watched the guy do it and picked up a couple pointers a couple of years ago and when i tried it it took me about 2 hours because after about the fourth string i couldn't see the eyes on the tuners to thread the strings thru so i was using a magnifying :eek: glass to see that close up i said bulldung it was worth every bit of $15.00. while they do it i just go hang out in the acoustic room and play high dollar guitars that i will never own so well worth the money to me.ive been dealing with these guys at this store for over 15 years and all of them are players and professional repairers with a good historys so i trust with my guitars . by the way that is how i got started on adamas and ovation guitars.i brought in my 1966 epiphone john lennon casino to get appraised and setup and i went into the acoustic room and found an adamas millinuem that i thought was cool.i couldn't afford it then but i walked out of there with a cs 257 and that is how it all started. oh almost forgot one of the ovations he had was the heroin one.GWB | ||
