I don't think i have ever gone out of my way to endorse a product but two products recently have really impressed me.

The first is a set of strings -- yes strings. I've been a die hard EJ-16 user for years. Tried a bunch of others and always came back to the EJ's. Well for whatever reason i got a bug and picked up a few sets of DR Sunbeams because they were round core and i've never tried a set of those before. I've been through a couple of sets now and WOW, just WOW. I'm just really pleased with the tone and playability of these strings. I highly recommend trying a set, although i'm sure there are just as many who's taste in tone will come to the opposite conclusion -- you know how that is.

The second product is a tuner. Many of you have built in tuners, but none of my guitars have that feature. Anyway, i've been using my Korg CA-30 chromatic for years and really have no complaints. But i decided to try a clip on tuner for the convenience of having it right with the guitar instead of having to dig out the Korg. I read a favorable review of the new Planet Waves clip on tuner so i picked one up. I really like it -- it's backlit, really responsive, and best of all it's always right at hand sitting there on the headstock. I actually picked up a couple more for my other guitars i like it so much.

Well there you have it, and as always caveat emptor!

The clip on tuners are nice.....specially if you are traveling.

For home use I have a Petersen V-Sam strobe tuner. After having a clip on acoustic tuner attachment for about 5 years I finally decided to use it last weekend. Works great and gives me precise tuning.

I have heard good things about the DR Sunbeams. MIght have to give them a try the next time I actually need to buy strings.

I have been using the Sunbeams for several years now and really like them too. I like the DR strings pretty much across the board.

Do your Ovation and Adamas models really go out of tune that much? Seriously, I use pedal tuners and it is remarkable how little retuning an Adamas needs from week to week.

In Miami, you need a tuner! The constant change in humidity at the gigs is a tuning nightmare!

My Adamas has (at times) been in the case for a week or two at a time and is still in tune when I pull it out. Amazing.

Odd as this might sound, I have 2 guitars that chronically go out of tune SHARP on the B string. Go figure.

Yeah I know, "Gee Dave how do you know they're not just going flat on the other 5 strings"

I too had been using a Korg CA-30 for my electrics, until I picked up a clip-on tuner. It's just so much more convenient than plugging into the Korg, balancing it on my knee, etc. Mine's not a Planet Waves, but it's also backlit and so easy to see.

I just leave the clip-on tuner clipped to the head stock of my "living room" electric all the time.

This is an eNote Nano tuna... I believe that I got mine for about $9.99
These are great little tunas and it comes in handy if you don't wanna plug-in your VIP. :p
