After seeing that cross sectional picture for he first time, I just realized that there is more birch in that sandwich than the other material. Does that mean the Adamas is ACTUALLY/technically a WOOD TOP guitar?

So the next time I feel inclined to initiate a Pro Ovation/Adamas conversation (argument) all I have to do is mention that Birch is one of my favorite tone woods!

:D

Bring it on!

I think I'm going to print of a copy of that picture and the cross section drawing, then stick a copy of it in my Adamas cases for future reference and a conversation topic.

I'm just a little late, so just how many sons of birchs are there around here I wonder.

Hello Colin,
That has made me chuckle, I wish you lived close to me. We could have a good chinwag I am sure.
Pretty cool around the Great Lakes right now.
Just ask Slipkid and the other guys in MI.
Stay warm.
Jim.

Miles,
This is what you might be thinking of....
Here's the way the wood top Ovations are are glued to the bowl.

The rim/edging is epoxied to the bowl then the webbing is cut away leaving a shouldered rim that the top is then glued/epoxied to....then they route the edge and apply the binding.

It's the same as adding wood kerfing in a conventional wood box build....just give the top a wider area to be glue to!
