Location: Michigan | Yep, its a folklore. Mid 80s. He has been playing on my old parlor guitar for just about a year and is doing great. It is fun to see him not be able to walk by a guitar without picking it up for a quick play.
He liked the wider neck of the parlor so a folklore seemed to be a natural fit. He really likes my UTE but... |

Location: Michigan | The tuners are actually silver. That is the light reflecting on them. Yes the bridge and the steel strings are a giveaway. :)
Johnny, it has a couple of surface cracks that I sealed up, and a few headstock nicks that I sanded and laquered. I set it up as low as I can and it seems to play nice. He is getting used to the neck shape but I think it will work great for him. (I still have my eye on your burst :) )
I would have like to have gotten him a new one, just because it would be new and I really like the idea of supporting my favorite guitar manufacturer but the funding was not there. In any case the 1614 is one of the all time gems and the history that goes with it is really cool. We watched Cat Stevens ripping Peace Train on youtube with a smile on our faces. |

Not sure if it's the lighting, but it sure looks as though that top is maturing to the 'nutmeg' stage!
The 1614 is a finger picker's 'O' dream. Deep bowl, A braced, slot head... what's not to like.

Location: Utah | That's a great looking guitar. The history of the model makes it much more interesting than a regular new guitar and he'll always remember the loving gift rather than whether or not it was new. |
