It's subjective tho... |

Location: Jet City | Well I haven't played a VXT, but I have played A LOT of other very nice guitars over the years and there are very few (if any really) that have ever compared to my UKII. It kills most everything.
But I haven't played a VXT and I'd imagine the recent efforts of Ovation be of great quality too tho...
I'm no help at all. |

Location: Phoenix | Well, I've got a VXT. Though I don't have a UKII to compare it to, I have several other non-O electrics. The VXT has as good an electric tone as any of my others, save perhaps my venerable Electra which has 25 year old Bill Lawrence "finned" humbuckers...
Dial in a little acoustic pickup in with the humbuckers, and it's got a little bit of a Tele bite. Though the VXT will never sound like a Strat, that's fine with me. |

The VXT is a more interesting guitar and can do more but you asked a pointed question and I answered that. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | I have both and have played one against the other a number of times. Of course, strings, set-up, etc. will have some impact. For me, I prefer the VXT, but you can modify and control the tone of just about any electric through your effects and amp. Obviously, what is "electric" to some isn't to others. Personally, I lean toward the clean side of electric tone (single coils/neck pickup). |
