| Sure you mean ADII? The Al DiMeola 1769 AD-II is a (wood top) Custom Legend. If you mean an Adamas II, I would think they'd just use a whole top/bowl assembly. |

Location: Utah | Adamas II, aka 1581. It has a cutaway lyrachord bowl with the suspension ring attachment to the top. The ring probably needs to be replaced along with the top, though I'm not sure. |

I've never run across that question before... Me neither... But it sure would open up some neat possibilities to have a SR option! |

Location: South of most, North of few | When you think about how much a bowl costs, I mean COSTS to Ovation, It's probably a lot cheaper to replace a top/bowl assy. than to cut the top off, refinish the edge of the bowl and attach a new top, don't cha think? |

Location: Warren,Pa. | Last I heard, an injection-moulded Ovation bowl cost the company $60 or so. Even though the cost of a hand-laid fiberglass bowl would be more, it's easy to see how it would cost less in labor to just replace the bowl than to do what it takes to remove the top from the bowl and replace it. There is nothing about an original bowl that makes it worth more than a new bowl.
We've seen here how, as a labor of love, a member has carefully removed a bad top and replaced it with a new one. Such a job is a worthwhile "labor of love", but not if you're paying the service dept. to do it. |

Location: Utah | There's a local guitar that has a badly busted top but otherwise looks like it can be saved. Definitely it needs a new top. The question is whether it is worth the time, effort, and $ to rehab this thing.
The guitar is pretty close to what I would want out of a custom order, but I cannot come close to affording the custom order. I'm wondering if it might be a nicely affordable option to put a new top on an otherwise good Adamas. |
