So who's doing what with their iPad ?

This is one of the coolest things I've bought in a long time. Lyric sheets, tabs, my guitar photo library, etc. And an awesome way to read the OFC. Worthwhile investment? Well, in the words of that famous economist Mrs. Witko, "You could have spent a lot more, on a lot less". Touche.

In fact speaking of my resident accountant, this thing is so cool that now SHE wants her own. That NEVER happens, trust me. Was undecided about 3G so we'll wait until next month and get the 3G for her. As far as "wait until the next generation" or "wait until the price drops", blah blah that's a lot of bullshit. Life passes you by and you could be dead tomorrow. If the next generation version is better (it will be) you cut your loses, sell it and buy a new one. The pleasure you get between now and then is well worth it.

Somebody need to come up with a microphone stand mount for the thing, and it would be great for live performing, set lists, lyrics, charts, etc. One of the best investments I've made.

This is a 32GB WiFi version.

We checked'em out yesterday. It's nice to see there is actually a real use for them. Although we found a lot of one-trick-pony type things, we have a netbook that does so much more. So we bought an iPad, and sold it on eBay a few hours later for a reasonable profit.

I must say, this is the first really useful implementation, although actually saving files on the thing would be nice... Would really suck to be at a gig with no wifi, and no 3g (when that comes out)...

Miles, you DO save your files right on it. You save in Pages or Keynote. THERE'S AN APP FOR THAT !!!

I've been thinking of one of these, but I would go for the 3g model. I'll take a closer look when they come out.

That and a mike/music stand adapter would aid my chronic case of CRS!

Well, after checking out the website, I decided to get one too (3g model). I've just about had it with this "netbook" (can you say s l o w...) and with the ipad, you can just buy the 3g service when you need it like on vacation and such. No contract required. If it works half as good as my itouch, I'll be very happy :D

Well, someone's working on a standard VESA mount for the iPad: PadMount

Once that's available, get K&M part #19685 to fit that on a mic stand.

Check out an app called Tab Toolkit for the iPhone and iPad. You can download all your sheet music, tab files and Guitar Pro files. It basically acts a n electronic songbook. It will even play certain types of files so you can use it as a learning tool as well.

Does the 3G version use the same account as my iPhone or would I need to add another device to my account?

3G is "on demand" 250mb download for 14.99 or unlimited per month for 29.99. Can be activated or canceled at anytime from the iPad.

I have a wifi unit with a 3G shipping by end of month. SWMBO was extremely happy to learn that she was getting the wifi iPad when the 3G arrives.

I downloaded the Tab Toolkit. VERY NICE.

Bobbo, this doesn't go on your current iphone account. Totally separate pay as you go plan.
