Got back from Florida last night with my treasued 68 DB and 12 CL in tow along with the new addition to the fold, the 1987 Collector's Series, I found in Florida.
It's #48 with a natural finish and other than needing the neck reset as mentioned before, is in great condition.
Man,these things sure are pretty!

How does that 'new' 87C sound? Great grab! The MS will make it like new...

Oh, BTW...

Great news, Michael. You've snagged one of the most cherished Ovations out there. Keep us informed as to how it all works out.

The guitar sounds great!
Very pretty too.
The neck is kinda "Skewed" like it is set at an angle that is just a bit off.
More noticeable to the eye than the fingers.
Still very pretty.
There are a few nicks in the finish from whomever did the previous reset and it's unknown why it was done in the first place.
Other than that, there is just one little nick in the top.
I'm looking forward to sending it to the MS along with the 68 DB.

The 87C has the Kaman Bar in the neck. It's attached to the body by 2 bolts. The factory should have no trouble taking the neck off and getting it right.

Great guitars.....

My 87 also came to me from Florida, courtesy of D'Zilla (did I say thanks, Steve?).

Enjoy it.
