Location: Cork, Ireland | The battery holder in my 1615 us held in place by a sort of stud that tightens with a quarter turn. Except that now its a bit loose and it resonates slightly when certain notes are played.
Whats the solution, a whole new battery holder, a new stud etc.?
Also, if the guitar is only rarely plugged in, am I better off using a relatively expensive alkaline battery, or a cheapo? Presumably the battery will gradually drain if not in use but will a good battery last longer? |

Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | Sometimes the foam pad on the battery holder shrinks/hardens/deteriorates with time. I bought a used folklore years ago where the pad had crumbled to dust that was laying in the bowl.
You can easily get a new holder from the factory. They are easy to swap out. Or, since no one knows but you, cut up a cheap foam sponge and put in enough to stop the buzz. It worked fine in that folklore. ;) |

Location: London, UK | If you can't sort it, I'm fairly sure I have some insulation foam strip with double-sided tape on one side which would do the trick, I'll send gratis. (I know what it needs - my guitar has the same battery box.)

As for the battery, use a good quZlity alkaline. It will last longer and it's less likely to corrode and ruin the connections in the box. The way to keep to battery, even an alkaline one, from corroding is to use it. Simply plugging a cable into the jack turns the pre-amp on. If you use a plug-in type turner that will do the trick too. I don't let my guitars go for more than a few months without plugging into something to get the juice flowing. |

Location: Cork, Ireland | Thanks all. I've secured the battery box so that it no longer rattles, and it's in good nick, not corroded and solder joints are good. I may be plugging in shortly, as per my other post yesterday. |
