I picked up a Glen Campbell model which needs serious restoration. I remember hearing there's someone in New Jersey who is the best one to do this. Does anyone know the best person in the Northeast US to restore this?

Thanks

Thanks a lot. I took an Elite, which I bought new about 15-years ago, there. They fixed the pre-amp and first few frets free. They did a great job, and we got a mini-tour. They were making Guilds at the time. I expect this will cost some bucks though.
Thanks again.

No better place to go then your own backyard! Keep it in Ct. Mother WILL do a great job.

Guilds have only been made in New Hartford for ,what, a little over a year now?? Maybe I misunderstood your comment above...........

Thanks. I've contacted them. I just have to drop it off before 3:00.

Any opinions on the W597?

I meant the restoration will cost bucks - not the Guilds.

The confusion lies in trying to figure out how you saw Guild's being built at the Mothership 15 years ago...
And, welcome to our dysfunctional family.

He bought his Elite new about 15 years ago....Probably had the pre-amp and first few frets fixed in the last year or so!

At least thats how I read it..... ;)

YMMV

Yes. I was at the O factory last Fall. They were making Guilds. I think I remember them making about a dozen or so a day.

If you're in the area, it's nice to see the factory. It's on the Farmington River with a few picnic tables out in a field. The town of New Hartford is very quaint and picturesque. There's a ski area and a few state parks.

I took the '79 up to the factory yesterday; down the Farmington River, spotted with fly-fishermen; past the multiple hiking trails on the Peoples State Forrest; through the beautiful, quaint, little town of New Hardford and over the bridge; next to the field on the river with random picnic tables. John said it would cost about $500. They gave us a tour just for being friendly - nice folks.

Sounds like a very nice day. That will be $500 well-spent.

When you get it back, remember that we like photos here… BTW, did you take any "before" photos? You said it needed "serious restoration…" it's always interesting to see "before and after" shots…

I took some before pictures. I'll post them as soon as I figure out how to get them from the camera to here.
