I just finished fishing around with my fingers as my little mirror is at work. It's A-braced. (My favorite. How did they know? )

Looks like someone at the factory needs to be "trained" in the proper way to string a slothead!

The guitars are strung by Fidelco clients.

Nice looking combo of woods. Congrats.

I don't think I've ever seen an A braced nylon string before. But I'm open to the concept. A bracing works so well on steel strings.

I gotta play that thing someday. Or maybe not. Wouldn't want to grow dissatisfied with my Custom 1773LX......

I asked this on the AGF as well.

"I've got to admit, the more I think about it, the more I think I'll need to reinforce the leading edge of the bridge to prevent grooving. (I don't like ball-end nylon strings because there is still a small part of me that stubbornly clings to tradition, and I never know when it will rear its withered little head.) I'm just not sure the best way to do it. Suggestions?"

I hope to take better pics for the calendar than these...

...if you define "better" as "winding the strings right."

See, it bugs me too. Just not enough to change out brand new strings. :p ;)

You know this is just a fine example of what Ovation can produce. Wouldn't you like to see a one of these along with an Adamas or 2 in your local high end guitar store. I just got to believe they would sell... but then again I bought Compuware stock at $30.

My sentiments exactly...the guitar store most local to me is Daddy's Junky Music, and I have had conversations with them about why they have been going increasingly low-end. Invariably the answer is that the market's tough out there, they don't sell, etc. But they DO take them occasionally in trade, and I have seen guitars from $1,500 to $2,500 appear in there from trade-ins. THOSE guitars RARELY last there more than a week.

I have to believe that Patch's gorgeous custom job would be gone just as soon as the first shopper able to swing it and play it, saw it.

I'm not sure what you mean by recessed? Inlaid in some way?

I swiped the idea from the 2002 collectors which has a cool looking cherry TRC to match its top. John found precisely what I wanted. Truly, I couldn't be more pleased.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about grooving the bridge. It's the nature of the beast.

It's an absolute beauty Patch. Kudos to you and the mothership.

Hello Patch,
A beautiful piece of craftsmanship you have, I wish you lived around the corner. I have a set of D'Addario J33 folk nylon ball ends. We could have a cuppa and talk arthritic knuckle talk.
Regards
Jim
