BFLG Advice on repairing a Textured top?

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR		I used to think that you really couldn't screw-up a Textured top.
Apparently I was Wrong. :eek: (It's so hard to type that out loud)
It looks like someone liked to beat on the guitar with a pick.
But probably for only one song... Then they looks and said "Oh Spaghetti!"
Then they sold the guitar to an unsuspecting fool like me.
This was not mentioned in the listing! But I got it cheap so I am okay.



And here's the whole thing... It is a non-Sweet-T Contour T...

[screwdriver is there cuz I had to put the manhole cover back on correctly]

Anyhow, beside showing-off my new toy, the real question is can I fix this?
Like, is there a simple way to do this with having a shop fulla tools and a paint shed?
Y'know? A 2 oz. bottle of Flat Black Testors Model Paint? and a brush?

All advice is greatly appreciated.

Location: Utah		OMA, that is on heck of a great guitar even if you can't fix the cosmetics. My eldest daughter bought herself one new a year or so ago and it is phenomenal. She has converted wood snobs into O lovers with that guitar.

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR		I snagged it for posterity... USA T's are getting scarce.
USA Contour T's are really scarce. As soon as they started making them, they switched to TX.

I just had to take-out a shim, then the electronics were acting funny.
The plug was loose to the back of the preamp.

The seller sent me some Martin phosphor bronze strings, so I used them.
So I cannot do a true A-B check with the Sweet T, but this one sounds nice in it's own way.

I am satisfied. We'll see if I can get used to the pick-Dents.
But I wish that there was a simple, idiot-proof, way to fix them.

Location: Texas		OMA - Sorry, but there is no way to repair that guitar, just send it to me and I'll see that it gets a proper burial… ;)

Those marks don't look too bad in the photos, personally, I'd just leave it that way and play it…

(Jukebox) Joe has probably owned more T's than anyone else here, he may have some experience touching them up… If he doesn't chime in here soon, you might want to try PM'ing him?

Try dabbing in some Flat Black and retexturing.

I ask cuz I can probably get that at Fred Meyer or Target...
Do you think that kind of paint would damage the original paint?
Y'know? Cause it to melt or something weird like that?

That may be an irrational concern... But asking is better than doing it and the hearing,
"Aw, you didn't use that kinda paint? Don't you know better than that?"
