Location: San Francisco, CA | I was really missing my 1990 Model 1869 Custom Legend while it was at Gryphon Stringed Instruments (Palo Alto, CA). The one and only legendary Frank Ford performed a PERFECT neck reset on it for me and I couldn't be happier with the result!
Last night I took it to an Open Mic and plugged it in thusly:
Guitar > Boss DM-2 Analog Delay > Boss CH-1 Super Chorus > '72 Fender Vibro Champ.
I then covered Simon & Garfunkel's "Scarborough Fair", "A Heart in New York", "April Come She Will", and "The Boxer". Man, this rig sounded EXACTLY like S&G's "Concert in the Park".
You gotta LOVE that sound!

Location: Tennessee | Where'd you open mic? Let me know next time you're out ... I'll pop in and support you.
Gryphon is about the best we've got in these parts. Nice to know they are snobs about Ovations. |

Cameron's Pub in Half Moon Bay. Every Thursday night from 8PM until the last person plays. 3 songs or 15 minutes, whichever comes first.
Great food at this place too!

P.s. I meant to say it's good to know Gryphon are NOT snobs re: O's. |

Yes, they have a good PA system already set up.
The way it works is the first five slots go to the first five who show up. #6 thru whatever go to people who phone "Auri" (the guy who runs it) after 12:00 Noon on the day of the O/M.
Also, it is a requirement that the first five to sign up not leave the premises once they've signed up. That keeps people from wandering it at 2PM, signing up, and leaving.
People start showing up around 6PM or so. It's a fun place to play and hope to see you there.

I might be out your way around the end of October.
Think you can fit me in and we can play some guitars and have a bit of fun? |
