Do we have "crooners" anymore? Although I wasn't a country fan, I liked Eddie and "Make the World Go Away." A nice guy who deserved a good life.

One of the best. Smooooooooth. A real humble man who once said when receiving an award, "All I really ever wanted to do was sing."

He will be missed.

I remember my Dad had a great crooner's voice (which he never did anything with it). He used t'sing a lot of Eddie Arnold tunes around the house.

(And having only one TV, we had no choice but to watch the "Kraft Music Hour" on Sunday night (on which Eddie was a perennial) . . .

Looks like I started a misspelling problem that set up Jeff's response.
Cliff, if he sang around the house, he did something with it. You got your voice from somewhere. I never thought my dad had a very good singing voice. I scare myself when I notice that as I get older I start sounding just like him.
I liked Eddy on that show. I'm trying to remember who else was a regular. Lots better than the junk on today. American Idol is the closest we get to a musical TV show.

I've heard that same exact line three times.

Laughed each time too.

My mom always said she was going to marry Eddy but chose my father instead. She always had Eddy, Roger Miller and Sonny James on. Dad was Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline and nothing else was even close to music in his opinion.

Quite a good "hoofer" in his day, too.

That was "Mr. Ed" Arnold. Different character altogether.

No, Arnold was the pig. He was the smartest character on the show. I preferred Petticoat Junction. Those girls appropriately lived in Hooterville.

growin' up we'd watch andy griffith, mayberry r.f.d., car 54 where are you?, mr. ed, green acres, petticoat junction, mchale's navy, f troop, gilligan's island, hogan's heroes, beverly hillbillies, the flintstones, the jetsons etc., but in the later evening hours as us kids were tucked in for the night, mom would play eddy arnold on the stereo and his voice is usually what we went to sleep hearing.
bon voyage, eddy. rest well.

No! Say it isn't so. And he did such a good job singing that Green Acres theme song.
The pig's name was still Arnold, right?
