Location: chicago | even though Greg and I had what I felt was a good submission to the contest..original song, nice interplay and of course our dedication to ovation sound.its sweet to see that someone with dedication to just playing acoustic without all the gimmicks i.e tapping smacking ect.won and local to our area too!wish he had an ovation tho...fantastic playing. I have to admit that I was more than a tad disappointed that your entry didn't bring you to the finals. Of course, it's all subjective, and there's no accounting for taste, but your entry was conspicuously wonderful. (Here's where I get a bit petty, so apologies in advance.) AND, your song -- Guitarfire -- was conspicuously MORE wonderful, I thought, than the entries of most of those who DID make it into the finals.
Maybe next year! |

Location: chicago | sometimes it takes just a little more than talking about doing it,and then just doing it.By that I mean in '92 I submitted a song I wrote called Bozos waltz to a gtr player sound page competition, not sure if it was any good, but I new it was at least as interesting as the guy that won the previous year,so with that I got an honorable mention with 700 entries from around the world, its not about competition or ego even its just to see if theres justification in what I spend so much time involved in.... something that is a driving passion that Is only motivated by my love for the craft.Jeff |
