The Blue Book is pretty-much worthless in today's economy, and most people are keeping a tight grip on any money they have. With that in mind, I wouldn't get my hopes up on getting a good price selling anything right now. A lot of folks here are dealing with that problem by considering trades instead. I have a nice assault rifle I am probably going to sell or trade off to get what I want. (:

Why don't you watch ebay or search completed auctions to see what they've been going for. Watch Craigs List as well. Even if there were a "blue book" value (and there might be but I've not seen it), as Vince said, in this economy it wouldn't mean much. Determining market value makes more sense. Why are you asking? If people here know more then they might be able to give you a better answer off the board.....

Each of those reasons has a wildly different answer. As Moody says, we try to avoid being the Price Police. Try here , FWIW given the reasons stated above. But again, as Moody states you'll get a much better assessment of current value by searching eBay for recently completed auctions.

I know there IS an on-line Blue Book, but there is a fee to use it, and i am unwilling to spend money on something like that. Good luck in finding an "accurate" value/price.

In regard to "Insurance Value", Since I have replacement cost insurance on my home and contents, I was going to supply a list to the factory of what I have and ask them to give me a price to have each one of them rebuilt. My agent told me that there is a limit on collections and musical instruments, so they suggested that I insure it as a "collection". That way everything/anything is covered for loss, even when I take them with me, when something is stolen or broken or what ever.

You can add more if you need to. The deductible is quite small. These policies cover everything, whereas homeowners insurance probably does not. For example, damage to the instrument while outside of your home. Even cables and other accessories are covered. About the only exclusion is theft from an unlocked vehicle.

I don't think it will pay to repair something that can be replaced cheaper. How do you know what damage you are going to sustain? Smoke might just involve cleaning, water damage could be total or partial, theft would be total replacement. I need to check again, but last I checked my homeowner's covered the replacement cost of all my guitars. I have a few limited editions now that might not be replaceable, though.

Our policy does not cover partial loss due to damage, say someone snaps the headstock off. I believe it does not cover theft outside of the home. It also does not cover "professional use", which could be important for people who earn any money at all, even just a few $ playing for tips. Our homeowner's policy has a pretty big deductible, too. So the first guitar stolen from the house is not truly covered. Some companies offer a pretty decent musical instrument rider on the homeowner's policy from what I've seen on various forums.

Anyone here a member? | ||

'Bout a half-dozen guitars, and typically listed as in excellent condition. Not sure of the years of manufacture. The search was (in Google) "Adamas 1681 site:craigslist.org" My 1681 is a GORGEOUS guitar in sound and looks. I have a -5, and I love it. Good luck!

I was thinking of loosening the strings cuz it spends most of it's life in the case. Still Sounds Awesome! Still in Perfect Tune! Don't look any worse from being in the case a Full Tune! I worked on my fingerpicking for a few minutes, then put it back in the case without de-tuning it. But it is a beautiful sounding and playing guitar. [I paid $1149 in April 2009, but that was best offer in a bad economy... he was asking $1500]

While I was just playing it I was thinking that I should take this out busking. I might once I get this fingerpicking thing down. I have only seriously started working on it, and right now I can only make pretty noises... But that is the whole purpose of the exercise, right?
