Just when I was trying to down size the number of guitars I own, I go and buy another. Just received a very nice Ultra 1517. Another ebay discovery. So far I've had really good luck with the Ultra's. My first (the Blue Reverse Burst) is great and has a nice bassy voice. This one is more in the mid range. Condition is very nice for a guitar that hasn't been built since about 91. Picture is (hopefully) attached for you all to view and comment on.

I forgot to mention - only two cracks in the coating, ears on headstock are good, as is the rosette. This guitar does not look it's age at all. It's received good care from previous owners. Set up really nice and low and it does play nice! Of course, it's an Ovation, so obviously it plays and sounds nice - right?

Nice! Very nice! An Ultra 2071 (much newer than the one you bought, and mine was Korean-made) was my first Ovation, and I still like it a lot.

Not sure if they are similar in specs, but the sound on mine is just as you describe for yours: very nice! Very playable, good electronics.

Thanks Alan. The Ultra 1517 is Korean made also. Not that that is a bad things. If I can't have the USA made, the Korean made O's will do just fine. My other Ultra (1512) is made in the US.

I love my 1527 but then I'm not good enough to tell much difference between guitars and i haven't played that many other guitars.

I have a 1311 Ultra that looks like your new one ... but its urelite neck started to think it was Dilbert's tie so it is now set up for slide.
