Hey Wabbit, nickel is a ferromagnetic material and is the best material for strings on instruments with magnetic pickups. Most of the strings on the market labelled as nickel are actually just nickel-plated steel, but the point is that nickel is ideal for magnetic pickups. The DR Zebras were designed to improve the performance of soundhole magnetic pickups
