How rare is this guitar? If I have the oppurtunity to buy one, should I jump on it?

how much should I offer if I like it? I'm going to see one later today.. I'd like to buy it, play it for a while and then sell it for at least what I paid (unless i fall in love). I've been doing this with Telecasters. It's become kind of an addiction.

You may never go back to Telecasters…

yes, i got it. sounds amazing through my blues junior... the ONE thing that i don't love about it is that when I'm playing standing up, the first three frets are hard to reach - the neck seems really long.

The guy who sold it to me told me he found it in a pawn shop in Mississippi...

Say Drift, is the body ash? If so, you may find you shoulder sreaming for relief midway through the 4th set. The Viper III is the heaviest guitar I own at just under 10 pounds.

I don't know what the body is made from.. how can i tell? I'm liking this guitar but I will probably sell it when the novelty wears off. I have a telecaster (which I love way more) and 2 Ovation Legends... How many guitars can I justify keeping?? Especially when the wife wants new furniture in every room :)

Your question is directed to the wrong crowd. Most obstacles to increasing the collection are only temporary at best.

Quid pro quo and the art of negotiation. New furniture for her sounds like a fair trade for more guitars for you. Must maintain the balance of the universe.

I had one for awhile, but I couldn't bond with it like I did with my standard Viper. I've heard others say the Viper III is a bit boomier because of the extra routing in the body, not sure if that's why, but I did find the overall sound not as pleasant as my Viper. It was also brighter than my Viper, but still a lovely guitar. It had a great strat quack, which I miss. They are great guitars and if I didn't have my Viper I would have never parted with it.

I wouldn't be so quick to get rid of a Viper either (not to sound hypocritical), they're so versatile and the Viper pups are incredible. I love that I coax Les Paul, Strat, and Tele tones from a Viper.

no, i'm not tired of it, i prefer my telecaster though and I don't need 2 electrics.... I listed it for $750 so it's not like i'm trying too hard to sell it. i do this from time to time - buy, play and sell for usually what i paid (sometimes more if i'm lucky) - i will never sell my american standard telecaster with rosewood fretboard though - unless something comes along one day to replace it - this Viper is not it though. I also have (2) Legends that I would never sell - but I did just sell a balladeer which i now regret.
