I've always liked the style of PRS guitars. I love the countersinking of the knobs, headstock, etc. However, the overall "bang for buck" stops me. The quality of build compared to Hamer is arguable. I think they are both finely crafted instruments, and while I haven't seen PRS's build process, I would think the custom built models from each are probably close to each other in overall quality. The results are certainly close in quality to the naked eye. That's why I can't bring myself to pay so much more for a PRS. I can get a Hamer built, to my spec (I assume you still can) for much less than the equal PRS.

As for Gibson.. they have a name. The only comparison to either Hamer or PRS is they are guitars.

PRS also sells a boatload of guitars that are made in Asia and go for about $500. They look pretty much just like the high priced ones just from the pictures in the catalogs and online. Sound familiar?

Roman used the term "guitar shaped object", not in reference to the Asian PRS, but it seemed like I heard that term from someone around here.

Wow, Mike, that's gorgeous… one of coolest-looking guitars I've ever seen…

…despite the fact that the string pairs are backwards…

;)
