....1972 Les Paul Custom "sunset burst" I bought in S.F. for $500 new in 1973...sold in 1980... one sweet guitar....but times were hard.

However a couple of years ago I purchased what I thought would be a "knock-about-beater" Les Paul Clone from Rondo Music for $189. It is every bit as nice/playable/tonemonster that the "real" Les Paul was and actually has better "ingredients" than the LP Black Beauty it's copying!

Here are some pictures from the "ning" site:

wonder how much that 72 les paul would be worth now? that sunset burst must have made it very nice, the standard les pauls over here in the uk start off at around £1700 gbp new second hand models go from around £1200 you guys sure have it lucky in the states! i would love a sunburst les paul be until the economy improves it will have to wait.

...here's a picture that's very close to the one I had...except for that Gibson Custom logo thingy on the pickguard.

....they are going for $3500-$5000 depending on condition...

Can't say I actually regret selling or trading any guitars, but I do regret not getting to purchase one.
I've been in and out of the hospital a lot this past year and during one of those stays Dave's NAMM 2080 was sold before I even knew it was being offered for sale.
As a lover of shiny bowls, missing that one will haunt me for a long time to come.
