Coffee is not good because it produces acid, which will burn the throat and stress the vocal chords, particularly if you have reflux issues.
A low acid tea, warm, not hot is supposed to be good. I've tried peppermint tea and it is okay for singing.
Room temperature or slightly warm water is fine, but not ice water.
I don't seem to have any issues with a good import dark beer, but a high carbonated Bud or Miller ain't good.
Wine is too acidic for me.
Don't know, but I wonder if sipping room temperature whiskey would mellow out the old chords. Sipping, that is. |

| The key is to maintain hydration, ie drinking plenty of water throughout the day you are to perform. Just splashing water into your throat before a performance is not going to make up for things if you are dehydrated. You can't directly hydrate your cords anyway (you'll choke) |
