Pulled the neck off the 1866 last night, there is ample evidence that the fret board extension had been glued to the top at one time.

So my question is - should the extension be glued down or not? I know some of the USA necks are designed not to be glued but I think those are the tapered ones and this one is square all the way to the sound hole.

I didn't re-glue mine. No problems so far.

I was scared like you would not believe to take my 1866's neck off the first time. Didn't reglue and now it is kind if like a game for me... Take the neck off, change the angle. Reset. Repeat and do again. lol

Thanks for the responses.

Unfortunately the glue on mine had partially let go and and created a bow in the fretboard extension. I have a call in to mother to discuss the situation and hopefully get it fixed.

Rescued this from a pawn shop and it is in amazing condition with no dings, pristine frets and unblemished finish. Not in love with the white top though

Can't wait to get it back together and see how she sounds.
