This is a long overdue “Shoutout” to all those hard-core, Ovation enthusiasts who invest their time, incredible experience and insights in the Ovation Fan Club to the great benefit of so many people like me, who go to school every site visit.

I am writing as a member, perhaps a typical type, who posts only a very few times, but I’m constantly lurking and learning as I suspect are many hundreds of other Ovation aficionados. I’m a self-taught, very limited player who, for some strange reason, loves guitars…their shape, sound, construction, history and feel. For years, Ovations intrigued me, but I really knew very little about these strange creatures, except they were unique and took their knocks from the mainstream guitar world. So when I finally considered getting one, this site is where I landed. I reckon that the OFC, coupled with its networks and reference links, offers the most authoritative voice on the Ovation brand in the world, with nuanced detail well beyond that available on the official Ovation site. Your virtual community is a place of higher learning and I never doze-off in class. Whether it’s recognized or not, I suspect you’ve done great service to the brand awareness and success.

Like any real town or village, the OFC is well populated, but in large measure, owes its quality of life to a narrow band of dedicated souls who, for whatever reasons, invest huge in the community’s well being. I’m informed by all, but using Parito’s 80/20% split rule, there are the 20%…probably more like the 5 or even 1% who do the heavy lifting. Beal, Waskel, Alpep, Old Man Arthur, Templeman, MWoody, PEZ, Patch, Seesquare, Bvince, Stonebobo, AussieJames, Stephant and a host of other usual suspects are names and personalities that I’ve come to rely on for patient, thoughtful, witty and extremely well informed conversation about what I consider to be one of the most interesting acoustic guitar designs available to the regular guy. The OFC posts have proven supportive of my sense that the guitar is more than just about the pursuit of my notion of an elusive “right” sound. Beyond that, a traditional Ovation is a beautiful, quality, unique “Round-back” that acts as art in my house and in my lap, does all it can for my poor playing and more, transports me back in time with a shape recalling the very first stringed instruments to grace the planet!

I’ve grown partial to the well seasoned USA made classics and I now own two (almost) cherry models; a “Stellar”, full bodied 82 Folklore that rings like a bell and a minty 85, 1861 Balladeer, that despite what I’ve read about the SS bodies being shy, delivers a surprising punch unplugged. Love my girls and they’ve got plenty of “headroom” so as my modest playing improves, I know these guitars will be waiting to accommodate me.

And so I just want to thank you all so very much for making my Ovation experience, and I’m certain countless others, so much more than just about guitar ownership or even music. Much obliged. Take a bow folks!

yeah...cool observation Pablo, even if my name (as usual) was spelled wrong

but thanks for thinking I actually provide "patient, thoughtful, witty and extremely well informed conversation".

The rest of the "usual suspects" know better!

The OFC is a great place to hang.

That is how I found the OFC... Looking for info on a 4861 way back when.
This did turn-out to be the most knowledgeable site on the subject.
Much more so than the Official Site at that time.
Thanx for the Honorable Mention there, Pablo.

I don't rate to be compared as one of the "heavy hitters' you mentioned, but I do thank you for the compliment. I also joined kinda' by accident when looking for info on Adamas and Ovation guitars. I was taken beack to fond there were so many others who loved these instruments and appreciated their quality and beauty. When I first joined I had one Ovation, a 1537. Since signing on, I can't even count how many different models I have now owned. it has become quite an addiction.

I'm probably more like the boorish FBI agent in The Usual Suspects, thinkin' I know more than I do.
Named in fast company, though. Thanks!

Pablojerome: that's just about as gracious and graceful a tribute as I think I've read in a long time. Nicely done, big-heartedly written and well-deserved to those mentioned!

Thank you for the compliment Pablo. Be sure to stick your toes in the pool a little more often....we don't all bite!
