But I love the 12 string sound, and the neck is getting hard for me to play. What's exactly do I have to buy to make my 6 string sound like a REAL 12? Not a chorus box with a little reverb added, but a believable 12 string sound. Is there one setup...one magic piece of equipment I can hook up and make this happen? John <>{

Sometimes an octave box will give you the single lines you might play, but if you strum it it'll sound like mush. I have a "12 string" setting on my GR-33, but I'm not real impressed with it and don't use it. Some of the multi-fx pedals claim to have a 12 string setting. I'd just go to GC and see what they have. Go on a Wednesday morning when all the shredder kids are in school.

Add a Janglebox on the front end and adjust the attack to the max with the tone toggle switched to bright and you end up with what some would say is an o.k. 12 string sound. Of course, by now you're almost $400 into the pedals, so why not just pick up a budget value 12 string? Oh yeah, neck size. Bauerhillboy, when you say the neck is a bit much on a 12 string, do you mean the size? If that is the case, look for a Hurricane. This is a 12 string on a regular 1-11/16" neck width. For anybody with normal sized fingers, it requires very precise technique.

It has a 1-11/16" neck. I can play a 12 string neck like that. I have increasing arthritis about an inch into my left hand where the thumb originates. It's getting harder all the time to grip my 1115 neck. I play about 10 songs with the team on Sundays...most of them require pretty aggressive playing. By about the fourth song I find myself switching to my '97 Collectors, which has about the slimmest neck profile in existence. Now I have this Sweetwater T coming, and I was just imagining what it would be like to hook up some magical little box to it and have everybody hear a 12 string. I'm the 2nd guitar and my 12 adds something very nice to the mix. Having a second 6 string is not much fun, especially since the guy playing first guitar is a much better player than I am. So the thing I add is not my incredible playing, but rather a very complimentary 12 string sound. John <>{

Its call the Nashville Tuning From Low to high the string gage is 30,20,14,10,16,12. I was told it give your 6 sting a 12 like sound. Now that I have a second 6 string I am going to try it the next time I have to change stings.

They have different neck profiles, and I was hoping that I could tell you that the Elite T was easier. Nope, just different. But maybe a different profile would be easier on your thumb? They are both 1-7/8" width, but they do feel different. Maybe you could special order something, or switch to a straight electric. A 12-string Preacher has the same nut width, but the strings would be lighter. I hope you find the solution. BTW- The Pacemaker is lighter, weight-wise.
