Had a great night out last night. Woodland Park Zoo does a concert series every year, and Brandi Carlile played last night. We try to see her whenever she's here playing for her hometown crowd.

We saw her a while back play with the Symphony and they eneded up recording the show. It was released a few weeks back, and it's great to have the show we went to on CD.

But last night was special in it's own right. Not only did I hear her do the best rendition of "Crazy" since Patsie sang it herself, but there was a special guest appearance from a re-planted local who has a very humble small house just a few blocks away.

While waiting in line, I decided to leave the girls and go seek out a coffee stand for an iced mocha, and there walking right at me was a very familiar face. He was carrying his young son on his shoulders and walking casually through the park with his wife Jennifer. We practically brushed shoulders as we passed.

Nobody bothered him and I didn't want to be "that guy", even though I wanted to stop him and let him know how much he's entertained me for the past several years (to the point of having no less than 8 or so of his songs that rotate in and out of my coverband's setlist).

Later that night Dave Matthews joined Brandi on stage for a beautiful duet...

Hmmmmm, I must be thinking of the wrong person.

I thought she was blonde and used to be in the GO Go's.

Nice.
Thanks, Damon.
Maybe Dave can walk in on our little get-together, too!

I haven't kept up with her since:

The Story

It got a lot a play time on Sat radio...after that... haven't heard a thing. Obviously she is still keeping good company...I get a tinge of J. Joplin in her delivery at times.
I think I will pick up that live CD and give it a spin.
