Imagine how it will look when the factory gets through with it!

Well, someday struck without warning or pre-amble, and I bought the thing without even seeing a picture. Usually I'm nowhere near that rash when in comes to online buys, but the price was crazy low because some goomba put some rubber pads on the bowl that looked...well...AWFUL! Otherwise the salesman told me it was in excellent shape for its age with no finish cracks, a straight neck, and good action. I must admit, he was not lying. I'll ship it to CT when they all get back from their break in a couple of weeks. One epaulette has a small crack and is lifting. They can tack that down, no problem. I also believe they can work wonders with the pick-scratching as it is not too severe. You will see the one major aesthetic issue below, but John Budny assures me it can be rectified to look like new. In the meantime, I get to play it for the next couple of weeks, so life ain't all bad! You all know the reputation of this guitar, and this one holds its own with considerable aplomb! Yep! I'm a little more content than I was day-before-yesterday. And I intend to stay that way all the way up to the point where GAS strikes again. Does anyone know why this one wouldn't have the "1987" on the 12th-fret abalone banner? If that last question confused you, here's the neck from my natural 87C. See the difference? And here's the reason I emailed John. Those pads were hideous, so I ripped them off. The factory will likely just re-spray the bowl I would think. I love these guitars........

I used Meguires scratch remover applyed with a piece of cheese cloth and hand rubbed out the scratches, followed by some guitar polish and it came out real good. If that's just glue residue on the bowl, try lighter fluid to remove it. It won't harm the bowl and you will save yourself some money along with the loss of playing time with your new acquisition. Not to mention some bonding with your axe. Great looking guitar, nice find!

I had #55 of 100 and it was a great guitar which is now in Italy (or across the pond somewhere). None of the -5 1987C's had the inlay on the 12th fret...just a block. But these had the cool Kaman Music Group label's...nice grab.
