So you are relaxing at home and the phone rings, it is the Ovation Artist Relations department and they tell you that because of your contribution to music and Ovation they want to issue a limited edition Signature model with your name and you get to design it and name it.

(NO ADAMAS MODELS PLEASE)

Me first?.......................... OK:

In essence my signature model will be very close to the Glen Campbell Artist reissue 1627:

Steel 6 string.
14 fret neck.
Artist bowl,.......... contour, cutaway.
AAA spruce top with A bracing.
Herringbone top purfling
Bound ebony board with no position markers.
Available in both Natural and Antique Sunburst finish.
Gold hardware
Bound solid headstock with pearl Ovation logo and a big pearl star inlayed under it.
Reissue Fet preamp with concentric volume and tone knobs by neck.
Deluxe black case.

And it would be called: the "Cowboy Serge Artist" model.

Next?

And Sony only made Beta... Until they figured out that the money was in VHS. And that they had the skills to build better VHS than their competitors.

But OK if you've going to build me a custom signature model and it has to have a plastic bowl and it has to be the same size as every other ovation ever built, then just make it a contour bowl, center sound hole, legend or something like that.

How about a plastic bowl (deep) in a 000 or OM size, single sided eppies, slight burst, 12 fret slothead?

The Mothership has already made mine for me:

Custom Elite LX, super-shallow bowl, hand-carved neck to match Gertrude's, natural finish. (No signature on the truss rod, though.)

If I was in a position to, I would reorder another one with nylon strings and in Autumn Burst. The neck would be slender, not wide, so it would be easier for my small hands.

A twin to my custom Koa VXT but with Jason Lollar P-90s.

Second choice, another twin to the custom Koa VXT but in a 12-string configuration.

That actually happened to me. I told them to jump in a lake since I only play Martins and Taks.

It would have to be a classic early 70s custom LegendL deep bowl, natural (no sunburst or colors). I'd be tempted to add a cutaway and an INLAID rosette. As much as I love the Di Meola abalone trim I'm not sure it would work with this model. Gold tuners inlaid logo.

The "Singing Surfer" model, which is an Ocean Acoustic style (MOB?) in Bobbo Blue with a black stenciled face pic of me (in my Ray-Bans), at a price point of $199 sold in hundreds of thousands through Walmarts, BigKs, Targets and Costco, complete with instruction manual of how to play any song using only the chords of G and C. I'm sure the overwhelming success of my guitar will spawn the follow-on Mr Big model in mauve, which will be a huge hit in France due to the inluded limited edition Beret.

First thing I'd have to do is ask if they've taken their meds yet today!

I'd have a custom contour bowl made that has the back more parallel with the front. The contour seems to point the face of the guitar a bit downward, so I'd like to tweak it a bit.

For the top, the best quality bearclaw. Bass side only eppis without trim wood. Aged ivoroid binding around the top and neck. Walnut neck, 14 fret, ebony fretboard and ebony bridge. Bearclaw veneer on the headstock. MOP fretboard inlays in a paw print design on the standard frets, plus bear claws on the 12th fret. Gold hardware. LX bracing. VIP preamp. Standard hi-z and balanced outputs. No dummy plug or special grounded cables required to power it up. I'd call it the Kodiak.

Alternatively, a Breadwinner based electric. Solid Honduras Mohogany body with a gloss black finish. Dimarzio PAF pickups with coil splitting and phase selecting like the original Breadwinner setup, with onboard preamp. The output jack on the edge of the body, not on the pickguard.
