Hello to everybody and greetings from Moscow, Russia!

Welcome a new member here)

Just bought Ovation Standard Balladeer 1861 (2005, made in USA) on ebay and it will be my first Ovation guitar ever! I'm so happy about it but have a question.

I'm going to replace the stock OP-30 preamp with OP-Pro Studio preamp. Would this new preamp match my guitar or some drilling work is necessary? Would my Ovation sound better or not?

And the last question - where can I order OP-Pro Studio preamp online? I found only one item on ebay and it was used OP-Pro (not Studio).

Thanks to all,

Dmitry

Hello...

When you buy the OP-Pro Studio, make sure that it comes with the "Can"

The OP-30 Can and the OP-Pro can are Not interchangeable.
They have different connection tabs inside, but they fit in the same size hole.

The cans come-out by the two Phillips-head bolts and "toggles" and can easily be swapped.

To buy them, you just must get Lucky on eBay... Or you could contact Ovation.

OMA has it right. I did the same thing with my Elite-T. A very simple swap out as long as you swap cans.

Ok, should I also change the pickup or I could simply connect it to new preamp?

The pickup should not need to be changed. It should plug right into the connection of the new preamp "can".

If you only need a can, shoot me a PM. I think I have some lying around.
