It's been a long time. Hope you all are doing well. I am still playing my Ovations and enjoying them more all the time.
Hey, some you may remember, I was going to move to Arizona last year, but my granddaughter was born very ill.
Well, to make a long story short...I am moving to Sunny Arizona this coming summer...took a teaching job in Mesa! Jumping from the freezer to the frying pan, and looking forward to it.
I probably will not be able to post often, but once I get settled in later this summer, I hope to get back on the board again as a regular!

Welcome aboard. Funny thing about Arizona, LOTS of people complain about it - it's too hot, too dry, too spread out, too many mexicans, too this, too that, whatever. But NONE of those people live here. And the folks that move here NEVER want to leave.
In business, education, etc. we talk about RETENTION RATE. Arizona has the highest freaking retention rate in the whole country. Look it up. You're gonna love it. Look me up when you're here and we'll do a proper welcome celebration.

And yes, I have had a peck of naysayers up here in Minny, telling me basically, "I'll see ya when you move back" or "Have you ever been Phoenix in the summertime?" and I reply..."no, but I've been in Minnesota in the dead of winter" ...I don't think I'll be back (other than to visit the kids) anytime soon!

Location: Boise, Idaho | The only article I could find on this subject (I found too many on retention rates for athletes) had to do with migration and retention of seniors. Arizona was just under Nevada. More old people move in than move out. It looked to me like, if they die there, they are "retained" because they can't move out anymore.
Maybe we should check statistics on year round residents. |

Only place where for dinner (at 7pm) we went to a restaurant in Phoenix built under ground for comfort. Yuma, 116 degrees on the flight line in early February.

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | My summer experience is El Paso, TX... Believe it or not, 116 degrees ain't that bad if it is dry and you ain't in the sun...
Busy nite life in Phoenix, cuz everyone stays indoors in the day.
And in the summer, Drive north to Oak Creek Canyon.
Runs from Sedona almost to Flagstaff. All trees and cool water.
The Original Natives tried real hard not to let the White-man find Oak Creek.... Did a good job of it too, until around the 1860's...
Prescott is nice too... Not all of AZ is a sand-pit. |
