Which version sounded best?

On a different solid body topic, I saw a video showing a Deacon with the UK II bar pickups. It was amazing!

I have five and would rate them in this order:

VXT Custom
UKII
Viper III
BW Ltd
Preacher

Hmmm rating the sound of the solid bodies...

I'd have to add versatility to get any sort of rating difference... so..

Ok..
1. Viper - UKII - VXT (I consider these the best, but they all sound different. I don't think one is better than the other, just different)

2. Breadwinner (Toroidal) - UltraGP - UltraGS - Preacher Deluxe - PF-22 - Deacon (Again, I'd rate the sound quality all the same, I prefer the tones of the #1 choices more, and find these all to be a little more limited in range than the ones in my #1 spot. In some cases the "sound" of these choices might exceed that of the #1 list, but they are slightly less versatile tones so ended up here.

3. Preacher (I just never had any luck getting the pickups to work without the pre-amp and found the sound to be limited.)

If I didn't add versatility, I think all of the Ovation Solidbodies (and I have played and owned all of them) are some of the best sounding guitars out there and I prefer their sound to almost any other guitar. Versatility is the only real difference to judge them on.

Pick a style or genre, and there is an Ovation Solidbody to match it.

Thanks guys. Very interesting.

Miles, I checked out your collection...wow! I also went to Youtube to check out some of the tones from the different Ovation Solid bodies. From what I saw, I really liked the Viper III. I also saw a Deacon with rail pickups (I believe) and it had such a beautiful thick tone that it was wonderful. Very cool. Ovation solid bodies...who woulda thunk? Now I'm on the lookout for a Viper III and one of those really cool Deacons.
