S/N 629 Deluxe Balladeer for sale on ebay. Needs some work but aside from a missing headstock veneer it looks decent. There are already quite a few bids on it. Not many of these shiny bowl guys left.

I'd be leary of it. The bridge has been tacked down, the headstock was refinished, but more importantly, the saddle is way down with almost no break angle over it. It's going to require a neck reset (which in Ovation-land is a bowl bend). I don't think it's a great example of the breed.....

Appearances to the untrained eye can be deceiving...I thought the saddle looked funny and obviously the headstock is frightening. Good info thanks

The soundboard looks incredible for a guitar of that age. I was wondering if it was the original. Additionally, someone modified it w/ a pre-amp.

The seller doesn't know anything about the history of the guitar...it was an estate find.

There are 7 days left for bidding and the price is up to $510 with 27 bids.

Lots of early and fairly high bidding considering the questions raised here. I wonder what's up?

It is up to 700 now.

And you see some very decent top notch guitars under priced that don't get a bid.

Not to mention THIS ONE that hasn't received a bid.

You know...cosmetically the soundboard looks great. But you gotta wonder on why the spray job on the head and the bridge (is it original?) screw down, with no apparent soundboard distress...and toss the pre-amp on top of it...

I guess I wish I had 10 of them...lol.

My 698 is looking nervous - I will have to leave the light on for the old boy tonight and reassure 'not for sale'

Am looking at the one with no bids referenced above....nice addition to any collection for sure. How often does such an early production model such as that come up for sale? Must be rare...?

Not often.
Yes, relatively.

In better times, there'd be a last-minute bidding frenzy, (and probably still will) but in the current weak market, someone might get a great deal.

In better times, I still wouldn't bid on that particular guitar....

The one from the OP? Me neither, but I was answering a question about a different guitar that was also mentioned above.
