against other Collector's models?
I know of one for sale nearby. Anything special or desirable about the '84 in comparison to the other years?
This one is virtually unplayed - still has the original factory strings on it. I've had it in my lap a bunch of times and it indeed plays like a new guitar - even with 27 years of corrosion on the strings.
Any thoughts? I need another acoustic guitar like I need a third testicle - but I'm sorely tempted.
Thanks,
Bob

I think this is one of Beal's favorites. He knows a thing or two about these...

In my semi-informed opinion?

The best of the SSB's.

Give Weaser a call. He's got one left that he's been trying to get rid of since last Halloween....

Depending on the cost, it would be a really nice one to grab and is considered one of the best of the collectors series.

If it doesn't work out, you could always put it up for sale here. We don't see many of these.

Buy it. There's a guy on the board who can pretty well have any guitar he wants and his 84C was his main guitar for about 11 years. He still lists it as one of the guitars never leaving him. I've played his and it had major mojo. Only SSB I'd ever consider.

Buy it Bob.....

At worst case it will make a fantastic Nashville strung guitar which is how I have my '84C.

Grab it.

Stephen, you have an '84C? How could I have missed it?

Brad, I think I acquired that one since your last visit.

I was seriously jonesing for a Nashville strung guitar when the '84C kinda fell in my lap for a more than reasonable price.

As nice as they are, it still confirmed my overall dislike for the unplugged SSB sound.
However, stringing it Nashville style was like an epiphany and the thin sound of the SSB bowl really made it jump up and stand at attention as a Nashville tuned guitar.

I have used it on several recent recordings and it just sits in the mix so fine that it is invisible but adds an amazing shimmer to the sound (janglebox on steroids)!
