Location: Columbus OH and Cape Coral FL | Greetings again. This is sort of a continuation of my 12 string post on the Welcome page. I love the early 2000s Balladeer 12 I just got (although the fingerboard is a rather nasty piece of rosewood).
Here is my question. Is there a way to straighten out a sprung/warped plastic case? I did see a previous question from December 2010 where the writer had an older case that was warped. Mine is newer. While several people responded, he did not get get an answer as to whether there is a way to "unwarp" the case. The aluminum trim pieces at the rear of the case are about 1/4" from coming together. Any fixes tha can be recommended. Thanks for your help. |

Just to keep the question foremost on the thread.
I know how it happens.
I warped my case by stuffing a rolled-up strap in the cutaway of my 6778LX.
So now there is a large gap there. :(
So if anyway knows how to fix that, Please Share It. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Look at the hinges closely. That is most often where the perceived warping occurs. You can usually bend the hinges back into position. It's easiest if you look at two cases (one of them a good one) side-by-side. I have fixed more cases with a pair of pliers and/or a brass coat hanger than I can remember. FWIW, the heavy duty brass coat hangers (wire, insure heavy guage) is just the right size to replace a lost hing pin. The brass is soft enough to cut and then shape so it doesn't come out. |

Location: Within blast radius of DC | Ohio & Prof - Were you able to repair your cases using Mr. O's suggestions? Just curious, as my case has had the same problem since my then-three year old son saw it open and empty, sat down in it, and pretended that it was a boat rocking (violently) on the sea. |

Location: Columbus OH and Cape Coral FL | In my case, I examined the hinges and they seem to be perfectly aligned. I can't find anything else wrong, and feel like the plastic itself may be warped. I have considered:
a) closing the case and sitting on it!
b) tying the empty case shut tightly and placing in the trunk of my car (in hot Georgia sun). |
