Location: New Jersey | I currently have a Takamine G260C which I really like however I would like a solid top cutaway smaller than dread acoustic. I prefer a nut width of 1 5/8". I really like the neck on my Takamine G260C in terms of thickness and nut width.
Can anyone advise on the Ovation models with a 1 5/8" nut width and preferrably a C shaped neck? |

Location: Utah | I don't know of any acoustics. Only a few models were the wider nutwidth of 1 3/4". Most are 1 11/16". However you could have a new nut installed with the slightly closer string spacings without any big mismatch with the width of the fretboard.
Any USA made O is what I would recommend. LX, T, or earlier. Your budget and other preferences will dictate the specific model and age to recommend. Most have a rounded neck profile, C-ish. |

Location: New Jersey | Thanks to all for all the replies. The nut width, for me has more to do with being able to wrap my thumb over the top of the neck for chording rather than string spacing.
I'm used to playing a Tele's and G&L ASATs. |

Early Hummingbirds were 1&9/16 and then went to 1&5/8. For some reason Gibson decided to add 1/16 there.
Also, the 1&11/16 nut on my 75 Ovation is 42 millimeters while the nut on my D18 copy is 44 mil. 1/16th = about 1.6 mil and not far off being 2 mil. The 2 mil. extra width on my dread makes a very noticeable difference.
I played a Hummingbird which I think was 1&5/8 and it was way too tight compared to my Ovation which is only 1/16 wider at the nut.
Other factors come into how neck width feels but I get the impression that 1/16 does make a difference even though it doesn't make sense intuitively. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I am pretty sure that the CC54i has a 1 5/8" nut.
Also my (now gone) Ocean Acoustic OA-47 had a 1 5/8" nut. |
