I got my new 2778LX last week and am just loving this thing. My other guitars are getting a well deserved break. ;)

I practice while sitting down a lot and every now and then I get a whiff of the odor coming from inside the guitar. Something about that smell is very pleasing to me...I have to stop what I'm playing and stick my nose in the largest soundhole on the bass side and draw in a big snort.

Anyone else dig the new Ovation smell, or is it just me?

It's the smell of the Factory.

A couple years ago, when my last car got rear-ended/totalled, the Ovation case logo I had on the rear hatch got destroyed.

I contacted Kim & he arranged t'get me a replacement. When the bubble-wrap envelope arrived, I cut it open & the smell just brought back all those memories of the last Tour (which was 6-8 months previous).

I left the envelope on my desk for the rest of the day, as a form of "potpourri" . . .

And to think we've been known to chuckle at the woodsniffers!

I will admit that at times I will partake in BrianT's D-28.
The word on the street is that guitar wood smell is Home Depot.... uncut.

Unable to make it to the "04" factory Tour I joked with JB about sending me some sawdust from the Factory along with some parts I needed.

Guess what arrived shortly:
Sitka Spruce, Ebony and Mahogany Potpourri!

SWMBO just shook her head.

I love the smell of my brand new Legend LX. Nice. But I also like the smell of old guitars. When you adopt a guitar it came with a particular smell of it. Bring the air of far places and previous owner..... and let it absorb the mood her new home. :p

even though my 1537 was recently re-topped and re-bowled it still has a rather musky "older" aroma that i find enjoyable. it reminds me of my former 1537. i gotta add that my takamine EF75 with the brazilian back and sides smells quite heavenly. it is a slightly sweetened boquet-ish intoxication.
the aroma of the 2078T is a bit pungent but is easily becoming associated with good things.

wonder why they call this sense "ol' factory"? ;)

Here I sit after a 12 hour day at work, smelling my Country Artist and 1758.

My sense of smell disappeared long ago. If I can smell it, then it will be totally disgusting to everybody else. For this reason, it is critical that I mind my manners at all times.
