I had hoped to make it my signature guitar when I became a rich and famous Musician, but alas, I am not rich and famous yet and my car is on it's last leg, (that's my bread and butter right there). So the moral dilema is: Should I hold on to a very rare collector's item and work the streets? Or should I sell it to a worthy soul for a worthy price or for a worthy car? What do ya'll think? How much would YOU pay for this beautiful 1968 Guitar in excellent condition? I haven't put it on E-bay yet, but I might have to.. . Danae'

The price will depend solely on how bad soomebody wants it for collectablity reasons. The cheapest one I bought for under $200. and the most expensive one for over $800. What is the neck width on yours. The narrow 1-11/16" necks are very rare (but darn near impossible to play).

What's the worst that can happen?...you sell the guitar, fix up the car situation, someday you'll get another guitar(you don't have to be rich and famous, just a little older). Can you sell it to someone like a friend or family member who is sympathetic to your plight and would "sell it back" to you when you can afford it? I got my first 12 string back that way after 20 years! Good things CAN happen in your future! Advice from Dr. John...there is no charge.

In essence, it was "collateral" on a "loan". If you know of someone who may be willing to help you out in this manner, it may be possible (albeit temporary) recourse to your plight. You can ALWAYS sell your guitar, and get another one "down the road". The real question is just how valuable is THAT particular guitar to you?? G'Luck!

You'll need to keep your Ovation so when you show up for the Northwest OFC and Matt Smith Clinic (still just a dream) you won't have to borrow mine all the time! It's always good see someone else in the upper left corner. Anywhere near "Twin Peaks"? Stardom may be just around the corner! If you come up with a price I may be tempted to buy it. Peace

It would be like selling an old friend. When my second kid was born I sold an old and beloved sports car for all of $1200 thinking that the money would make a difference (work was slow, money was tight). It didn't make a difference and for years I kicked myself. Keep the guitar. You can't put a price on the joy and memories it's given you.

Sorry I never got back until now...I don't own a computer and have been too busy working to even go down to the library. But the good news is that I haven't sold it yet and I think I made enough money this summer, selling beer to old farts at the Mt. Si Golf Course, to not only buy a car but to buy everyone here a beer too! If only I could email ya'll one...ohwell, I'll have to celebrate by myself. And yes, I do live in the Twin Peaks area, just a walk away from the old mill. I haven't measured the width of the neck, (I didn't bring it to the library with me), But it's the same size as a 6 string neck, and yes it can be difficult to play, especially after a drink or two. I have decided to hold on to the guitar, at least for now. It was a gift given to me for having natural child birth. any whoo running out of time gotta go for now.

If that don't make a man feel blessed for the many guitars he's come by, by common means, I don't know what will! All I had to do was get my kids out of the house! Glad you still have it and wishing you well. I'll send up some smoke signals if a Northwest gathering seems do-able!
