When I sold/shipped the Pacemaker I tuned to DGDGBD to relieve it during shipment (along with many of the packing tips learned from this board, thank you very much). The last sound I heard and the first one the new Owner heard was a glorious open "G".

Hoped to see him on this board too.

Boss - Detune! Detune! No, Tatu I think you mean de PLANE!

Anyway, I detune when shipping, but never while a guitar is just sitting in my house. I've had a '68 Balladeer hanging in my guitar closet (in tune) for over 9 months without ever being played. It won't hurt it a bit. The damn thing is MADE to be tuned to pitch. But then again, as long as you don't mind the hastle of re-tuning what's wrong with being cautious? To each his own.

The church has decreed that it's a mortal sin to have a Deluxe Balladeer not be played for 9 months. Play it tonight before your soul is cast down into hell.

Besides, it'll put a smile on your face.
