So, I could use a few opinions from you folks. For a little while now I've been thinking of adding a nice fingerstyle, om, ooo, type of wood box to my mix. 3K street price limit, but I like about 2K better! Let me hear about a smaller body wood box (not Parlor) you have a good experience with. Martim om21? Takamine Nex body 460 Nashville series? Larrivee 0m 3, 5,9,or 10 series? Santa Cruz om-pw? Even a seagull folk artist? Taylor? Let me know. It's a big potential purchase for me, and I don't want to miss something on the hunt, Thanks.

there are many fabulous choices, but i highly recommend the takamine offerings. grab one of the few parlor-sized EF417's or a TNV-760, both a bit under 2 grand. i'd tell you to get an EF75 but i'm not sure if there are any available. unless beal is still willing to sell one of his. they are cream of the crop.

If you want the longer 25.4" scale the Martin OM-21 with rosewood body and the OM-18 or OM-18v with mahogany are great.

If you want the shorter 24.9" scale the Martin 000-28EC with a rosewood body and the 00-18v or 000-18GE with mahogany are great, too.

The Santa Cruz can also be had in both scale lengths and are wonderful guitars.

Go out and play a bunch of these and one one you love.

If you keep your eyes open, you can find a used Collings C-10 or an OM for under 3 grand and sometimes closer to 2K.

Collings are consistently the best sounding guitars I own although the Taks make some fine sounding OM sized guitars.

You might also want to be on the lookout for a used LOWDEN. Several of us own those and they are terrific sounding guitars.

Where are you located?

anything but a Taylor.

The Tak 760 or 460 or a Collings, or Martin or Santa Cruz

You going to play this at home or out on stage? At home I'd lean more toward the box C,M,SC, plugged in I'd got more to the Taks

I recently picked up a Martin OM18V. It is a great finger style guitar. Any Martin OM series would be good for you.

Any of the other makes and models mentioned above would be great choices also. I wouldn't overlook an Ovation UTE if you could pry one aways from the other members who have one.

I have a Martin 000-28 (basically the same as the Eric Clapton one without the signature) that I'm actually looking to sell right now. That one is a great little guitar, 24.9" scale, and a very nice balance of sound...the only downside is that it's a standard 1 11/16" neck. If you need a wide neck that might not work for you.

My other choice would be a Larrivee 000-60. Slotted headstock, 12 frets clear, Canadian Spruce/EIR wood combo. Absolute killer sound. I've played one briefly, and if they're anything like my LV-09 was, you can't touch a nicer instrument (wood body wise) for anywhere near the cost.

Just my $ .02. :D

These can be had for under 2K on the bay and even at 2.25K you would never regret it! Electronic's can be added at your discretion!

I only have one (plus another in transit) wood boxes and both are Taks. The EF75 is an OM size and is really tough to beat, plus it is definitely in your price range. The problem is that very few were made and nobody is willing to let theirs go.
