For Sale: FD-14. Most of us OFCers know this is a fabulous sounding guitar and also very rare. The cedar top and 12 fret neck combine with the slot head to provide a beautiful mellow tone that competes with any Martin. Only 50 units were made and only 25 can be found in North America.

I bought this guitar from Tony Calman and it is truly a sweet guitar. Unfortunately, my wife lost her job and we can't afford items like this at this time. I prefer to pass it along to another OFC member and will not try to make any $$$ on the transaction.

On the bright side of things, it feels great to have owned a beautiful guitar like this, even if only for a couple months. If things go well for us, I'll be able to keep my other O's.

The guitar is in great condition and comes with the original OHSC. I posted pics in the Members Section under stellarjim. Unfortunately, I must be doing something wrong because the photos came out grainy after I compressed them sufficiently to upload. Let me know if you want additional photos emailed to you.

Price: $990 + $40 s&h (sorry but this is a firm price)

Oh, one last thing. Before I bought this guitar from Tony, I emailed one of the Luthiers at Ovation to ask him what he thought of the FD-14. He told me they only built 50 units and he was so impressed, he bought one for himself (actually he said his wife but we know what that really means). This is a guy that listens to great guitars every day and can buy any O he wants. He chose an FD-14 because of its superlative tone.

Jim, Sorry to hear about your wife's situation. Not to question your motives, but are you sure the FD14 is the one you want to sell? Seems to me that the Elite or ME would be much more "disposable" meaning when times get good again (new job) you could pick up a replacement Elite or ME a whole lot cheaper and a whole lot easier than the FD14.

Thanks Dave. I really appreciate the thoughts and as you can imagine, this was a tough decision. This board is so much better than Ebay. I'm not really all that sentimental about most things but here you feel like your loved one will go to a good home. I'm more of a 12 stringer person and I wouldn't be able to get nearly as much for my Elite 1718 so that's how I came to the decision to sell the
FD-14. One of the things I came away with from my experience with this guitar is how nice the 12 fret models are to play...with the shorter neck and all. I used to think "why would anyone want a 12 fret guitar?" Now I know. And in the future, when times are better, I'll pick up another 12 fretter.

Tony:
I haven't been home to actually get my email. I'm writing this from work but will be home in an hour to find out if Stephan is the buyer or not. For some reason, I'm not able to sign in on my home PC but have no problems signing in from work. Not sure what's going on there. If anyone has suggestions on what may be causing that, I'd appreciate a note.
Thanks.

Jim

I would have bought your FD14, but the OFC guitar is putting a serious crimp in my guitar budget for the year. Glad it's going to a good home.

There was a thread a few days ago about "short lists". The FD14 is on mine.

Paul,
Have we ever gotten a price on the OFC or are we still just guesstimating?

Just guessing. We probably won't hear anything until the summer.

Completed the purchase of my FD-14 :D .

My wish list is now considerably smaller with my recent major GAS attack (and pending divorce  ).

The Colorado museum (SW metro branch) is now officially closed for remodelling. If anyone sees me trying to buy something else (except for the OFC and 12 fret already on order), please shoot to kill  !!!!

As far as I know, the museum's Boulder branch is still open and actively seeking more pieces for their new exhibit entitled "I Will Eventually Own Everything I See and Will Drive 2000 Miles In A Snowstorm To Get It" :D

Good play, Stephen, I am sure you'll be happy with FD14 as I was when I played it for the first time. Sounding is incredible, completly different from my others ovation guitars....Enjoy it !!!
