Joined: March 2004 Posts: 32 | Anyone interested in my black 1537 elite? I got it new from the factory. One owner, driven seldom. It's the first one built in '84. Sweet guitar. I'd post a pic but I don't have a website at the moment. Frank

From being cased and tensioned for decades the bridge started to pull away. I had a luthier repair it. He matched the wooden screw plugs. 2. Because of same, there are several (5, about 1 inch long)small finish cracks from the bridge south. 3. One thin finish crack from end of fretboard to bridge. 4. Missing one of the small triangular veneer pieces that points to zero on the volume knob. Besides that, it looks close to being new. As I said, I'm the only owner, and though I played it nightly thru the 80's, I went into midi studio work after that and cased it for the last 15 or more years. It has great action and the frets and fretboard are perfect. Of course it's stereo. Serial # 302670. I posted this guitar probably 2 years ago here, but chickened out when it came time to sell it. Thanks everyone, Frank

Thanks, Frank Log in to the board, then in the green bar on the left hand side of the page, you'll see yellow capital letters that spell out, 'MEMBERS ACCESS'. Click on that, then click on whatever the Photo Gallery link is (might even be photo gallery)...then you can setup your own little photo spot. 'Course, that's a whole other process, but... :)

I included a couple of shots of my former recording studio when I lived in PA. Miss it big time. Thanks everyone for your help. Frank

But, heck, seeing as you're part of the OFC ol' boys network, I'd consider even going $351. :p You might scour the 'completed' auctions on eBay for similar items, or use google to search the web to see what similar items are going for (harmony-central classified, gearpage, etc., too). Best of luck!

Joined: August 2003 Posts: 4619 Location: SoCal | Frank, The problem with asking what you should ask is that the market drives the price - who can buy it this week. Blue book sources such as Orion (usually higher than eBay or other type sales) is based on what a guitar store should be able to sell within a 3-6 month period. Even with a Blue Book reference, it is dependant on the condition. Sounds to me to be a unique finish on a great guitar. Yet, the bridge repair was not done by Ovation where it would have been "as new." Any other damage would affect the price. Don't know if you received any offers from OFC members...and, we appreciate you listing it here. However, only way you may know what it is currently worth is to put it out on eBay. You can set a minimum bid and use a reserve if desired. Doesn't sell the 1st time, then consider that amount that you are offering it for and relist. Good luck...

Joined: March 2004 Posts: 32 | Any takers for $1200? I would like this guitar to go to one of you folks who appreciate these instruments. Selling a guitar that you've had for so long is kinda' like euthenasing your trusty old hounddog. But It's been sitting in the case for 15-20 years now, and should be played by someone. And (maybe I shouldn't mention this here) my Taylor 614 has stolen my heart and fingers. If anyone is interested I'd be happy to take new pics of this guitar from any angle, only problem is trying to photo a black guitar is brutal, the reflection plays Hell. Thanks all, Frank
