Just wanted to calibrate everybody's "yardstick" out there:

"If you want one, get serious"; I guess is the message.

Yeah, I was hoping to snag that one at a give away price :( . High bidder doesn't win you much when the reserve isn't met. Wonder what reserve was?

Oh well, I will keep my eyes open for a relist but talking to Tony, Al sounds like the best bet for a great price. ;)

Obviously, we know what the reserve wasn't. Hopefully, they will relist. Personally, this is embarrassing...

Most of us haven't seen the guitar but we do have enthisiastic response from some of the OFC'ers who were at NAMM. At least for me, this was sufficient to order one from Al without being to check it out first. LX & new bowl - good combination.

I asked the seller:
"The Collector's are numbered, i.e., # 3 of 700. Do you know what number this guitar has?"

Response:
"We do not know the answer. However, I will ask for the lowest number possible from the folks at Kaman if you wish."

I said 700 - no idea what Ovation intends to make.

So appears they do not have the guitar in hand...probably best chance at a lower number and speedy delivery is to get one of the guitars Al had already ordered.

Actually, I have bought a couple from Al and currently have 2 more on order with possibly a 3rd before the year is out....total 4/5.

Tony has probably purchased 6-8 from Al (maybe more).

We support the "idiot who sells gear"!

What about you....what are your totals? ;)

Two, so far. Granted, reconstruction projects, but supportive, nonetheless.

Note that it says at the bottom it is a charity auction. There was never a chance it would go cheap.

Amazing and disheartening, 2005 Collector's didn't even hit reserve; yet Taylor at $2,598 list went for $5,850.

TAYLOR STANDARD MODEL T5 A COUSTIC/ELECTRIC 6 STRING GUITAR
Tobacco sunburst finish standard model T5 thinline 5-way guitar featuring the "T-Lock" neck joint in a ..more... - on order, expected arrival date 03/30/05
T5-STD-TBRST .. manufacturer's suggested list price ...$2598.00

That had to be somebody looking for a tax write off. Great way to get a good guitar and save money at the same time.

Interesting.....just got a 2nd chance offer on my last bid price from eBay on the '05 collectors that was the NAMM auction guitar.

Will check this out and see how legit it is!!!

Sweet deal if true....if not, one of the new 4 that Al just got in will probably have my name on it very soon :D :D

Stephen, congrats!!

Just shows that it is always good to be high bidder even if it doesn't hit reserve. That's how I got one of my 6759's.

Has to be the lowest price that a new Collector's will be available for.
