I have upgraded my early 80s Adamas 1 guitar to a newer preamp and pickup system....

This upgrade was done by Ovation at the factory, and they returned my original pickup/preamp to me. It was in perfect working condition when removed.

So... it is for sale on ebay at

hey I'm in there...(if won will go in the 1758)

good luck in the bidding to all tho if interested.

should just about imitate an Adamas 12 or 1537?/12 after that.

I think I could mount the tone and vol in a plate over the op24 frame..

the stereo out should be pretty nice as well.

guys what do you think? only mod I foresee is another 1/4 inch hole in the bowl and I have a spare op24 frame to mess with. so could restore at any time.

thanks

Glenn

update:

just got off the phone w/kim k.. he thinks it would work ok not exactly an upgrade but more of a lateral(10yr difference in technology). the routing for the p/u is the same. so no mods there.

mounting the tone and vol in the same space the op24 frame was in may be an issue but I think I'll be able to work around that one way or another.

I know the stereo thing is kinda gimmicky to some but I do have the equipment to utilize it.(probably not the talent)

already talked to howie about wood for the plate.
either gonna lay in a piece of spruce guitar top or rosewood or ebony from an old fretboard.

already know what my limit is on the bidding so
good luck to all interested.

will be kind of neat and non-destructive(for the most part)project if I win the auction.

and if I win and the project doesn't work out to satisfaction...anyone here needs a spare or project material...it's yours at my cost or lower as I will have tried what I needed to.

good luck to all.

God Bless

Glenn

Is there REALLY a Kim K?
I've e-mailed him/her a couple of times as still looking for a vol. knob for my old UK-II.

I've spoken to Kim twice and Jon Budney once yes they do exist. and they do return phone calls and e-mails. so give em a shout at the mothership or type away and hit send..

Both are very personable and helpful gentlemen.

didn't they give you the secret password when you joined the OFC? :p

regards,

Glenn

Just a quick point- in my '82 Collector's restoration, I got the critter all back together, plugged it in, and it sounded like tepid bat guano- no volume or tone control. So, took the strings back off, took out the "guts", removed the box covers, sprayed both sets of electronics & jacks with contact cleaner (Radio Shack), and reassembled the whole mess. Performs flawlessly! So, while it's in the installation process, why not?

Spider, I would prefer to sell and ship in US only. Thanks for the interest.
