UP FOR SALE: Solid Body Viper. Beautiful dark Gray burst model from 1980 Serial number is E20129. Has the upgraded chrome Schaller Bridge and Tuning keys. These guitars are great because they have Ovation's specially made single high output coils. Each coil winding has 10,000 wraps of wire for great volume and tone. This guitar was Ovation's answer to the Les Paul. Yet it is different and most people that know it, believe it to be better than the les Paul.

This Viper is in very good condition. I've posted pics in my gallery (see stellarjim). The neck is straight as an arrow and the action is very low. Very easy and enjoyable to play. Frets are in good condition (only very minor wear). There are some belt buckle scratches on the back and 1 relatively small chip (on the back edge where some red shows through). I took care to show all the blemishes in the posted pics so no one would feel the guitar was misrepresented. This is a NICE guitar. Comes with original case, which is in good condition. Asking $385. Please add $35 for shipping.

I prefer to sell my guitars to fellow OFCers because I feel, for some reason, that it's like keeping them in the family. I think I feel that way because I've learned so much from this group. It's been an educational and fun ride.
Thanks.

I agree that the Viper is a great guitar. It was my first electric, and I love 'em. But if I can split hairs for a minute...I never thought of it as being competitive with a Les Paul. It seemed more like a turbo Tele to me.

Scott:
Thanks for the correction. It was intended to compete with the Fender. And your description of it as a "Turbo Tele" is right on the mark.
