New Member. Have the opportunity to purchase a used Balladeer 1111 for $200. I don't know how old it is, but it is in great shape. Any thoughts? Is this a good deal?

Unless the neck is about to fall off and the top split in two
Yes!!

But you might need to "mike it up" as it'll be a straight acoustic.

Yes--she will be a wonderful guitar. I have one, too, and think of her as my "grand ol' lady," the matriarch of my collection. Go to the Ovation website and find the link that checks age by serial number range; you'll get a rough idea of how old she is.
This is a great place to visit--and, welcome!

Have you played it I hope? I have one of these (bought new in 1971) that I still have, still play, and still sounds good. The odd thing, compared to more modern O's is that the neck is much narrower — comparatively — at the nut than any of the more modern Ovations I've seen or played. That has always been a 'difficult' point for me as I have fat fingers. For me, the newer necks are much more comfortable.

I have played it and really like the neck. It sounds good to me...although I am a beginner...started later in life at 40. Thanks for the feedback.

What you will be doing is buying an upgrade guitar for the same price as a starter guitar. Does it have the orgianl hardshell case? If the henges are rusty, bar keepers friend will clean them up nicely w/a little elbow grease and a good leather cleaner will work great on the case then armor all it up for a new looking case.

My 1111, "Ol' Faithful", '60's neck-'80's body, earned it's stripes, many times over. Occupies the handiest hanger, for a quick massage.
Grab yours, and hold on tight.

It's a no brainer, it's a wonderful old USA made guitar that you like the feel of.

Go get it 'fore it's gone!

And welcome
