I am about to go on vacation. When I return I need to sell some guitars and accumulated stuff. Some things are difficult to part with but not being able to jump on the Adamas I 12 that came up or this 1537 is a crying shame! Next we'll hear that W2 is enjoying golf so much he wants to sell all his O's! And I quote "bad time no jing"! If anyone wants something I got yell at me. We accept Paypal and Food Stamps.

Michael's trc's were too nice to carve up. Hopefully, he will make some more up and offer them to the OFC and eBay.

I've only been away for a couple days and... there is a secret password, T28 has been selling off everything in his music room accept the baseball wallpaper, and the passing of the famous 1537-ASCalman began days ago, but where is the next torch bearer? There was a short list of guys wanting her. It is admirable that Stephen is passing her on for his original cost. Tony set a great example when he unselfishly offered it to Stephen for that remarkably low price. It would be nice to see this guitar remain in the OFC being passed amongst members for that same price. BTW… Stephen, I did not see the Deacon-12… when you get bored with it… :D

I am really shocked that no one has jumped on this yet. Maybe they feel because of the price something is wrong with it...maybe I should have said $1100 and made a nice profit but as you mentioned, trying to keep it in the family and carry on the tradition Tony started a while back of reselling at the original price to OFC members who want to take a ride. and I am hardly selling off everything but I really would like to sell that wallpaper :D ! Mainly, I am just trying to move a few very nice items that just don't get any use and put them into the hands of someone who will play them. Mark and Woody, usually I would be more than happy to work out a layaway plan or payment plan. I have done this with many OFC members in the past but this time I need the moolah to pay for past and present GAS! Maybe if Tony re-adopts you can make some arrangements with him. OK...heading out to church so when I come back hopefully someone will be the new owner of this baby. If not sold to a new player by the end of the extended weekend, it will be going to Tony. Noah, the Deacon 12 ain't going nowhere....but I do have a complete set of parts for an awesome looking Preacher Delux, Viper, or UK2 12 string :p

I just remembered that we have to buy our baby (18 year old) a new computer and pay her first year's tuition by the end of next month. I have a hard time justifying this purchase, even if it is a once in a lifetime deal. Where's Stellarjm?

If not spoken for by tomorrow night (the 5th) off to Tony's it goes first thing Wednesday morning. ....and Tony has already told me that if and when it goes back on the market it will be for considerably more that this weekends offer.

I know you need cash stephen, but I'll ship you the PD(repaired)by one of our own..Chatman(being shipped to him for work this week), and reasonable cash difference, say $300, but you would have to extend my payment plan by say....another 90 days, if not... all's well, will just have to pay more when I finally find one. Someone really needs to jump all over this... I'm sorry I even brought up the repair nonissue. Thanks, God Bless, Glenn

It was fully disclosed several times in different threads and the only persons that would allow it to effect their decisions would be collectors and not players. The repair done by Tony is amazing and I have never given it a second thought. Certainly doesn't effect the sound or playability.

Then when this thread started on weddings, I started worrying about 2 more things that weren't on the list of other major expenses. Maybe in 7 years or so when both daughters are out of school and are ready to pay me back for all that support, they'll pick up a 1537 for me. There's as much chance of that as convincing my wife that this was a bargain. Meanwhile, I'll just have to visit some othe the other board members to see what I missed.

So instead of hiring somebody to fix a sticky door or waiting until I fixed it, she buys 2 doors and pays a contractor to install them. Easily spent the $750 that I could have bought the guitar for. Living with 3 women should be unconstitutional, cruel and unusual punishment.

Joined: February 2005 Posts: 1132 Location: Parrish, FL | I want to thank Stephen for giving me a couple of more days to work out the finances at my end. It is really amazing what 2 or 3 days of groveling will do. She was ready to do anything to stop the whining! I was hot on the trail of the 1547 on the bay but discussions with the seller raised some concerns about its condition. Thankfully another buyer stepped up and is now showing the most interest. I know that the 1537 is the real prize of these two instruments. For those OFC'ers that may be interested, I've got some more pics of it that I can forward. Up to this point I haven't been real active on the board. That is something I hope to change. Not owning an O kinda left me on the outside looking in. Stephen has promised to include the secret handshake and password tucked inside the case and I think I picked up a hint on the origins of the llamas tucked inside another thread recently. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on and around the 1537. It will be my first Ovation and she is a beauty. She will be well loved and cared for while staying with us. When I found out she just spent as much on a cabin door as I would have on the 1537, though, I was pissed. Maybe next time. Meanwhile there are several other O's on my want list. Pretty amazing you get the cream of the crop for your first one.

Definately has more issues than the description mentions....still, for $650 or whatever the current price is, you could send it to the factory for a "good as new repair" and still have a great guitar for a really good price. That said, I personally would not bid much higher (or any higher) than what the current price is at.

I am not sure what the best time is for a new guitar to be delivered, but it sure was a long afternoon. The good news was that I had my kids (young adults)open her up and get her acclimated to the new digs. I got home after 5 (even left 'early'). I knew this was a special guitar, but I still wasn't prepared for the beautiful detail and craftsmanship that make it so. WOW! This guitar is nearly perfect, even after 20 some years. And the sound? Well, I've picked up a lot of guitars at all the shops around and nothing I've held touches it. Now I've got to concentrate on my technique and intensify the practice sessions so that my abilities merit owning such a wonderful instrument. T28, thanks for working with me while I got my act together. Norsey and Mike, keep looking and find a way to make it work. It will be worth it. These guitar have to be the most underrated git out there. Brad aka BluesSailor
