I probably can't fit any O's in the trunks and don't want to go a week without a fix. I'll probably do the same next year in Portland and finally meet Waskell.

Should get it on Friday. When I ordered it from Al, he said that he now has one left. The list I have is: Tony Calman Dave Witko stonebobbo ME Al said he had six total. Who's missing?

He's definitely new to the sickness of GAS and was thinking he'd like to pick something up in the $400 - $500 range. I took him shopping and he opened his eyes to what a couple more dollars could get him and I had him seriously considering the Lennon. Then - and here was the killer - he spooke to his older sister - the NUN, who doubles as a diehard Martin freak. (She has two and is actually very good but wants no part of a "plast...", well, you know where that is going). Anyway, he shrank from the pressure. Too bad but I showed him no mercy - I told him it would probably go to a better home anyway... ;) Sorry Al, I tried.

And a John Lennon one would be superb, if I ever found a used one once I get some more cash.

When I was a child I had an inexpensive children's acoustic. 5 years later I picked up my first electric (Ovation Viper 1271), and never touched the children's acoustic because I was too big for it... Then a couple years later, I decided I wanted an acoustic again, and I saved my money and shopped around and chose the D-18. Sentimental/emotional value keeps me with the D-18. And it's great tone and volume, of course.

Won't get mine until Friday - If Al shipped it today. Any comments on the sound, how it compares to the 1681/1581? Tom

To me the Lennon sounds more like my Custom Legend LX. The thing I was the most impressed with about the Lennon is how perfectly it was set up. All Ovations come well adjusted, but this one just seemed extra perfect. Dave

The thing that I've noticed about my Lennon is that it is very percussive ... far more than any of my other acoustics. I get great tone and volume from palm/finger mutes and wide tone variance as you move your picking hand from neck to bridge. There's nothing like a deep bowl! Only bummer is that the preamp is not working quite right. :( But that can be fixed. The rest of the guitar is a dream (#9).
