Joined: June 2002 Posts: 6201 Location: Phoenix AZ | For Sale: MARTIN D18-VS 12 fret, wideneck, slothead from Martin's Vintage Series. Everything about it is 100% perfect. I would never ever in a million years sell this guitar, except that I have aquired it's big brother 28 version. The guitars are so identical, I can not possible keep both. I think this about a 2002 model. o D sized slope shoulder body o Solid Sitka spruce top o Solid mahogany back and sides o Tortoise inlayed body binding o 12 fret neck o 1-3/4 inch wide nut o Bone saddle and bone nut o Slotted headstock o Weaverly open gear tuners (the best) o Deluxe case (and I mean DE-LUXE) o Everything is new, mint, perfect, not a mark ![]() List price was $3199. (now it's $3499.) I paid $2300. With all due respect to Ovation, until very recently THIS was the best sounding guitar I ever owned. It's an absolute tone monster. It has spent its entire life in a humidity controlled environment. I'll sell it for $1850. including shipping in the US. Here's additional details on the Martin website. http://www.martinguitar.com/guitars/choosing/guitars.php?p=m&m=D-18...

Rub it in and if your hair grows back it'll stick straight up. If nothing grows back, you're like totally Ok with that , I guess. Yah, sure, no problem...

All that being said, I can see why this man (StandingOvation) has maintained a 100% rating on eBay. He got this guitar at a good price, and he's selling for even a better price. Even tho' I'm not fond of Martins, if I was looking for a guitar in this price range, I'd buy this one, because it's a great value. Very cool, Dave. Hope to do business with you someday. Joe

Truth be told, every deal needs to be put in proper context. Yes, I did sell this D18VS and what looks like a "loss", however in parallel I scored an HD28VS for a great price, so my math was that for about $500. I could upgrade from the 18 to the 28 and that seemed like a GOOD deal for me. By the way, the D18VS is sold and is already on it's way to the new owner. Dave Hey Mark - D18 is nice, but it AIN'T a D18VS. Come on ... 12 frets, wideneck, slothead ??? That's usually the basic ingredients for a whoop-ass guitar.
