It sounds good, but I find it wierd because the setting essentially reverses what the pre-EQ is designed to do. There's an infinite number of settings to be tried. Any other other suggestions for what I can try?

Then I heard Al DeMiola say that he keeps his levels flat, at the mid setting, and son of a gun if he doesn't actually know what he's talking about. I give it just a pinch more bass but that's it.....

The acoustics of the room will affect which frequencies carry more and which are absorbed. You then adjust your EQ to lower the dominant ones and raise the absorbed ones until you reach the tonal qualities you want. Unfortunately, if you do this when the room is empty, it will have different qualities when a bunch of people arrive.

Only problem is, the church is has very lively acoustics when empty and I'm too busy playing when they're there to notice what the acoustics are doing then. One thing I did find out (luckily before church) was that they XLR pumps out WAY more power than the 1/4" slot. I turn my volume down almost to 0 when using the XLR so my buddies' guitars can be heard.
